Why Should I participate in Missions?

In Jesus' final moments with His disciples, He gives a clear and vital instruction:

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Our response to that instruction is first to realize that it is God's heart that all people have the chance to discover the grace of God and to be invited into His Kingdom. We partner with Jesus by stepping outside of our everyday context of life to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES in all nations.

We go because we share in God's heart to reconcile the lost and because we believe that university students are in a strategic position to be carriers of this important mission.

what requirements are there to be accepted?

Chi Alpha offers a variety of missions opportunities both domestically and abroad. Each trip carries a different emphasis and with it a different set of requirements. In some cases, trips are only open to student leaders, but in most cases they are open to any student who is presently involved in Chi Alpha.

Where do I find the money to go?

Each mission trip has an appointed resident or staff pastor to lead the trip. That leader will facilitate a comprehensive training experience including support raising training for all who are accepted.

Some students choose to save up the funds throughout the year to go on a mission trip, but we have found it most effective when students enlist the partnership of friends, family, and their home church to support the student in their mission trip commitment. Chi Alpha will provide each student with resources and instruction as to how to build a team of supporters.

what trips are happening this year and When are they happening?

Each year we partner with ministries, churches, and missionaries from around the world to offer a variety of mission trip opportunities. Each trip features a special emphasis that challenges students to minister outside of their typical cultural context. Here is a list of the trips we will be participating in during spring and summer of 2024. Please note that exact dates are tentative and still yet to be finalized.

how can I apply?

In order to be accepted for a mission trip, students must complete the application and submit a deposit at the time of application. Please read through the application and trip policies carefully and direct any questions to Sydney Hulen: s.hulen@xadenton.com.
